What is the Edge of the World?
The Edge of the World or Jebel Fihrayn, is a natural tourist destination located about 100 kilometers northwest of Riyadh. This mountainous area resembles an edge overlooking a void — its name actually comes from its shape: a 300-meter-high cliff above what was once the bottom of an ancient ocean. The view from the top makes you feel like you’re standing on the edge of the world, literally.
This site is part of the Tuwayq Mountains, which stretch for 800 kilometers from Al-Qassim in the north to Wadi ad-Dawasir in the south. The Edge of the World has become particularly famous among tourists and photographers, making it one of the most prominent off-road destinations near Riyadh.

How to Get to the Edge of the World?
The Road from Riyadh
The trip from downtown Riyadh to the Edge of the World takes about 1.5 to 2 hours by car. The total distance is approximately 100 kilometers.
- Head northwest on King Salman Road
- Take the exit for Al-Hair Road (old road) towards the west
- Drive to Al-Hair village (about 70 kilometers)
- After the village, head north on a dirt road — follow the driving signs
- The last 10 kilometers are rough — you need a 4×4 vehicle
- You’ll arrive at the parking lot, and then walk for 10 minutes to reach the edge
What to Do There?
- 📸 Photography — the sunset and sunrise views are amazing, especially with the desert colors
- 🏕️ Camping — many people come with a tent and spend the night under the stars
