The number of pilgrims arriving from outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has exceeded 1.5 million pilgrims, as the Hajj season reaches its peak this year. Land, air, and sea ports continue to receive the guests of Allah amid precise organization and comprehensive preparations.
Important Tips for Pilgrims
With the expected crowding in the holy sites, officials and experts advise pilgrims to follow several important tips to avoid problems and enjoy a safe spiritual journey.
Lightening the Luggage
Iftikhar Hussein, founder of the “Umrah Companion” app, confirmed that one of the biggest mistakes pilgrims make is carrying excessive luggage. He said: “Most experienced pilgrims advise traveling with the lightest possible weight so you can move comfortably and focus on worship without unnecessary strain.”
Medications and Medical Supplies
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in cooperation with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, has issued a guide on how to pack and store medications according to approved regulations. The Authority recommends:
- Keeping medications in their original containers
- Avoiding exposure to direct sunlight or high temperatures
- Not placing essential medications in checked baggage, but in hand luggage
- Carrying an official medical report in Arabic and English
What is Prohibited in Ihram
Hussein warned against using scented products during Ihram, including perfumes, scented tissues, and deodorants. He also advised against wearing new or uncomfortable shoes that could cause inflammation or blisters, making Tawaf and Sa’i difficult.
Unprecedented Media Coverage
Saleh Al-Thabiti, head of the Government Communication Center, stated that this year’s Hajj season is covered by more than 150 media outlets, comprising over 3,000 journalists. He noted that the center has produced more than 6,400 media materials in multiple languages, achieving over 100,000 international media publications and 11 billion views.
Assistance Apps for Guests of Allah
The “Umrah Companion” app provides step-by-step guidance for all stages of Umrah and Hajj, from Ihram to Tawaf and Sa’i, with counters, supplications, and reminders. The app is developed with the latest artificial intelligence technologies and focuses on helping pilgrims make the most of their spiritual journey.
